This was a practical guide produced while working for SIBAT, an NGO working in the Philippines, on a 1kW wind turbine off-grid system for remote community electrification. This work was part of a one-year placement in the Philippines funded by Engineers Without Borders UK.

This guide covers all the components required for an off-grid wind turbine system and attempts to explain the reasons for the choices and the calculations involved. This guide is specific to the Philippines, although the general concepts are relevant to all small off-grid systems.

The guide is available to download here.
The design spreadsheet mentioned in the guide is not included here as it was written specifically for SIBAT, the NGO. If you would like any help designing small off-grid renewable energy systems, please email.
